In een verloren paradijs proberen Djek en Djill te achterhalen wat hun liefde eigenlijk is zonder de bepalende ogen van de buitenwereld. In een voortdurende reeks metamorfoses ontdekken ze zowel de betoverende als de monsterlijke kanten van elkaar, maar blijven achter met de vraag of deze échte liefde niet alleen kan bestaan in hun verbeelding.

Djek en Djill trekken zich terug in het diepe woud, weg van de chaos van de grote stad. In alle rust zoeken ze hier uit wie ze zijn voor de ander. Wat betekenen ze voor elkaar los van hun afkomst, sociale status en verwachtingen? Telkens weer transformeren ze om elkaar steeds als nieuwe personages te ontmoeten. Deze beeldende, muzikaal gedreven voorstelling, geïnspireerd door Frankenstein en Disney-klassiekers, bestaat uit episch georkestreerde soundscapes, originele popmelodieën, expressieve dans en talloze kostuumwisselingen. Why such a strange love is een surrealistisch sprookje dat vertrekt vanuit de overtuiging dat als je elkaar echt wilt kunnen zien, je naar elkaars dromen moet kijken.

In a lost paradise, Djek and Djill try to find out what their love actually is without the defining eyes of the outside world. In a continuous series of metamorphoses they discover both the enchanting and monstrous sides of each other, but are left wondering whether this real love cannot only exist in their imagination.

Djek and Djill move to the deep forest, away from the chaos of the big city. Here they find out who they are to the other. What do they mean to each other, regardless of their origins, social status and expectations? They transform again and again to meet each other as new characters. This visual, musically driven performance, inspired by Frankenstein and Disney classics, consists of epically orchestrated soundscapes, original pop melodies, expressive dance and countless costume changes. Why such a strange love is a surreal fairy tale that starts from the belief that if you really want to be able to see each other, you should look at each other’s dreams.
